
RevUp Fluency
RevUp Fluency is a literacy programme designed to improve the literacy skills of reluctant readers and English language learners. RevUp Reading comprises sets of themed high-interest, low-readability, levelled 15 fact and 15 fiction cards. Students work independently with these cards to increase fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and research skills.
Each card is divided into three passages of 100-120 words. Students reread the passages to increase reading rate and plot their progress on a fluency graph. Students then complete the follow-up activities that include comprehension multi-choice questions vocabulary multi-choice questions thesaurus, dictionary or Internet vocabulary search writing activity research activity
RevUp Comprension
Although students use comprehension strategies in an integrated way while reading, we believe that teaching the strategies separately and explicitly ultimately enhances the students’ comprehension of literature and informational text. RevUp Reading Comprehension Strategies provides you with the material to explicitly teach eight comprehension strategies.
Rev Up Comprehension includes

- 48 cards (8 cards x 6 copies for group differentiated instruction and guided practice) for differentiated instruction and guided practice.
- Each card has approximately 300 words divided into three separate sections.
- A detailed lesson plan for each card.
- The lesson plan includes specific outcomes for both the content of the card and the comprehension strategy.

RevUp Poetry
RevUp Poetry is designed to
- introduce students to a genre that are sometimes overlooked in the literacy programme.
- to provide a connection to content in the Science and Social Studies curriculums. You can use the poem to introduce the topic or extend the students’ thinking during the topic.
- to provide a tool for English Language Learners and Priority Learners to express themselves without having an extensive English vocabulary and/or a good command of English syntax.
- to teach a form of written language that focuses on sensory images and the feelings these invoke in the reader.
- to provide models of different poetry types to enable students to create their own poems.
